Make a royal portrait of yourself and wear the crown that you deserve!
Are you born as a king or queen, but you miss a crown? Do you suspect that you are secretly nobility? With a royal portrait of you on the wall, there is no one who still doubts that.
Christiaan VIII was king of Denmark from 1839 to 1848. He was the eldest son of Frederik van Denmark and Sophia van Mecklenburg and was born in Copenhagen.
He inherited the talents of his gifted mother and his loving and handsome appearance made him very loved in Copenhagen. His unfortunate first marriage to his niece Charlotte ended in a divorce in 1810.
In May 1813 he was sent to Norway as a heir to Norway to make the inhabitants enthusiastic again for his kingship, which was under pressure due to the adhesion of Frederik VI after the disintegration of Napoleon's empire. Christiaan did what he could do to pick up the bond between Norway and the Danish royal family. Although his attempts were opposed by the so -called Swedish party, who wanted a dynastic union from Norway and Sweden, he was chosen as regent of Norway on February 16, 1814 and not much later he became King of Norway as Christiaan Frederik. Under pressure from the international community, and from Sweden, he soon had to give up the Norwegian throne. He was succeeded by Karel XIII van Sweden (Karel II in Norway).
